Counseling for Anxiety

Others seem satisfied and content with their lives. They smile, laugh and seem to be living rich lives. You desire that same quality of life – the fulfillment and connection. You feel like an outsider and find it difficult to trust others. You’re on edge, and can’t seem to relax. Maybe your muscles are tight and your jaw, clenched. You may find it difficult to be in the present moment. Anxiety and worry define your life. You desire to live differently, but you don’t know where to start. Red Bike Counseling offers therapy that will relieve your anxiety symptoms.

You are Not Alone

Anxiety symptoms and related emotions can feel so isolating. But many of us have similar symptoms and feelings. We may feel all alone – but we are together in this because anxiety is one of the most common mental health concerns!

Most often, anxiety is manifested from unresolved trauma. A trauma is anything so overwhelming that we are incapable of processing it in the moment. And whatever overwhelms one person may not overwhelm the next, so it is unfair, when we compare ourselves with others who seem to come through the same trauma, unscathed.

Imagine no longer feeling on edge, no longer clenching your jaw, no longer looking over your shoulder. Picture yourself relaxed and trusting others – having meaningful relationships. Counseling for your anxiety, makes this possible.

I Understand Your Struggle

I went to my doctor with several similar symptoms and concerns, including a racing heart. The doctor told me I was having panic attacks and diagnosed me with General Anxiety Disorder. Though I struggled with worry for years, I never realized that I was experiencing anxiety and panic. The more I learned about my anxiety, the more I began to see how anxiety defined me and my life! I worried about everything. Sometimes, I worried about worrying – I couldn’t remember a time that worry didn’t flavor my life. I found relief through therapy for anxiety.

Relief through Therapy for Anxiety

Hi, I’m Lisa and through my practice at Red Bike Counseling, I provide therapy for anxiety that will process your trauma – the trauma that is likely underneath your anxiety symptoms. Using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems, we will find the core root issue that has manifested into your anxiety symptoms. Resolving the trauma will minimize your symptoms. My passion is to help you move beyond the barriers that are limiting you so that you can live the life you envision.

Why the Name "Red Bike"?

I remember the breeze feathering around my face and through my hair. Magically, I was balanced atop two spinning tires. Gliding forward on the hand-me-down, but new-to-me red bike, my heart went soaring. I remember the red paint was a bit rusted and the tires a little frayed. I didn’t know where I was headed, but that didn’t matter, because all cares and worries suddenly vanished. All I could do was look onward. In that moment, I experienced my first sense of freedom and possibility. It was the first of many therapy sessions that old red bike would give me.

Testimonials

” Lisa is kind, compassionate, and an excellent listener. She creates a safe space by not being stuck on following her own agenda. While skillfully guiding our sessions, she is respectful. She has a knack for helping me dig into things, but without me feeling forced or bulldozed. We have shared a combination of talk therapy, EMDR, and IFS. I particularly love our IFS work together. I also respect and appreciate how much Lisa is committed to her profession, advancing her education on a regular basis. I’m also drawn to her connectedness with nature, and how this comes through in her communication and point of view. I have made more personal progress during the time I have worked with Lisa than I have at any time in the past. She has my highest regard and recommendation. ”

I have had the privilege of working closely with Lisa over the last year, and can certainly attest to her capacity as a clinician. She is truly passionate about her work and the people she serves, which comes out in her highly skilled practice of EMDR, her warmth as an individual, and her unique ability to attune to the needs of her clients. If you are looking for healing, I highly recommend Lisa.
